Well, you don’t need to give your leather jacket to expensive dry cleaners. You can clean your leather coat at home simply by following these steps.
Get rid of dust and dirt
To clean dust and dirt on your leather jacket, make a solution of dish soap with warm water, smoothly spread this solution and clean your jacket using a soft piece of cloth. You can replace the dish soap with vinegar with a ratio of one part vinegar to one part water. Dry your leather blazer with a towel.
For minor stains: Apply toothpaste
Leather is as gentle as a smartphone screen. One scratch is going to steal the look of a new leather jacket. You have to be very careful because leather is a soft material and you might scratch it while applying the Toothpaste. Make sure your nails do not touch the surface. Only use your finger to apply toothpaste on the stain. Rub gently with a soft cotton cloth, till the stain is wiped out. Wipe the toothpaste off with another piece of cloth.
Nail Polish Remover
In order to remove the stain of ink, Gently blot the area of the stain with a cotton swab saturated with nail polish remover. The ink may spread if you will rub the stain. Once the stain is gone, dry with a towel.
Permanent solution for oil stains
Baking soda or cornstarch is the best thing you should use to remove oil and grease stains. Sprinkle it over the stain and leave it overnight. Due to its nature, baking soda will absorb the oil. Wipe the remains with a cloth.
Mildew and Mold growth
Leather is material which can be affected by the bacterial growth of mildew and mold. Want to know how to clean mold off leather? Follow these two steps. Firstly, use a vacuum cleaner to hose the mold as much as possible. Secondly, use alcohol to remove the remaining molds. For that, dilute the alcohol up to half of its volume. Emerge a cloth with the prepared solution and mop the affected area.
